Is DigiLocker accepted as valid ID proof?
Yes. The Supreme Court of India has held that DigiLocker documents are legally valid. Your digital Aadhaar, driving licence, and RC from DigiLocker are accepted by police, government offices, banks, and at airports. You no longer need to carry original physical documents.
Is DigiLocker safe to use?
DigiLocker is operated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and is one of the most secure government platforms in India. Documents stored in DigiLocker are fetched directly from the issuing government agency — they cannot be tampered with.
What documents can I store in DigiLocker?
DigiLocker links directly with UIDAI (Aadhaar), RTO (RC and DL), ECI (Voter ID), CBSE, universities, ICSE, and many other agencies. You can access your Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, RC, voter ID, insurance documents, and educational certificates from one place.
