How It Works

1

Disability Certificate

The first step is obtaining a disability certificate from a government hospital. We guide you on which hospital to visit and what to carry.

2

Online Application

We file your UDID application on the official Swavlamban portal with the disability certificate and your personal details.

3

Medical Board Review

A government medical board reviews the application and disability certificate. In some cases, a physical examination at a government hospital may be required.

4

UDID Card Issued

Once approved, your UDID card is generated and delivered by post to your registered address. We help you track the delivery status.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of disabilities are covered under the UDID scheme?
The Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act 2016 recognises 21 types of disabilities. These include locomotor disability, visual impairment, hearing impairment, speech and language disability, intellectual disability, autism, mental illness, and more. A disability certificate from a government hospital is the first requirement.
What benefits does a UDID card provide?
UDID card holders can access railway travel concessions (up to 75% discount for certain categories), reservation in government jobs and educational institutions (4% reservation), priority in government welfare schemes, free bus passes in many states, and priority banking services. The card serves as a single unified document replacing multiple disability certificates.
Can I apply for a UDID card without a disability certificate?
No. A disability certificate from a government hospital is mandatory. If you do not have one, we guide you on obtaining it first. NammaDocs can help with the full process — disability certificate guidance followed by UDID application.
How long is the UDID card valid?
UDID cards are issued with varying validity depending on the type and permanence of the disability. For permanent disabilities, the card may be valid for lifetime. For conditions that may change, it may be issued for a specific period (3–5 years) with provision for renewal.
